Hydroponic systems … and more

Hydroponics System A

This System is designed to grow vegetables and herbs in water alone without pots and a growing medium. The seedlings are virtually stuck into the holes with the roots dangling down into the stream of nutrient enriched water. These plants can grow like this to full maturity. When they are ready for harvesting, the plant is extracted with the roots attached. This we call a living plant. They will still survive in a little water in your kitchen for a couple of weeks. This way you don’t have to consume the plant right away, you can also eat a portion of the plant and keep the rest alive. Do not refrigurate the plant, she likes the warmth.

As a general rule, plants that are totally consumed like lettuce, celery, herbs… can grow in this system. Plants that produce their fruit on a vine like tomatoes, bell pepper, eggplant… need a medium to anchor their roots.
