Hydroponics is the system of growing plants without soil in a slow stream of nutrient enriched water. In soil, bacterial decomposition breaks down organic matter into the basic nutrient salts that plants feed on. However, natural soil is often contaminated or does not have enough organic matter to feed the plant. With hydroponics, clean filtered water is enriched with the same nutrient salts that the plants feed on. In this environment the plants have their food directly delivered to their roots and the energy normally used to develop long roots can now be redirected to accelerate the growth of the plant.

Some plants, (e.g. herbs) can grow from seedling to full maturity using just enriched water as described above. These plants will grow very well in our System A. This growing table A is specially designed to grow herbs like basil and parsley, and vegetables like celery and lettuce. (click on our link System A)

Other plants, however, need a soil free medium to anchor the roots. This medium can be shredded coconut husks, or small volcanic rock stones . This growing system we call System B (above)

At Archi’s Acres we have extensive knowledge of organic small-scale farming, which helped us design the perfect home gardening system. ( visit our website at www.archisacres.com )

Archi’s Green Machine - System B

This model of home gardening system is ideal for all plants. It consists of an easy fold up table with 2 food safe feeding chanels mounted on top. Each chanel has 5 openings designed for 5 pots. On top of each opening sits a drain dish, (shown below), which holds the stone filled pots.

drain dish

The plants are continuously fed through small feeding tubes (below), which deliver the nutrient enriched water directly to the roots.

feeding tube

The excess water drains through the stones into the drain dish back into the water reservoir for recycling (below)

back flow

The system is totally self-contained using a small indoor fountain pump to circulate the water 24 hours a day.

No weeding, no contamination, no crawling insects since the table stands above ground. For flying insects we recommend mosquito netting over the plants.

Our homegrown organic seedlings can be purchased from Archi’s Acres directly, so can our organic nutrient formula.

We will walk you through the whole process of assembling, running and maintaining your home garden, any questions you might have will be answered within 24 hours. This home gardening system is ideal for patios, balconies and gardens.
