Hydroponic systems … and more

Basil

On Archi’s Acres we grow our own seedlings from organic seeds. This is a difficult process, the seeds are planted in little cubes filled with tiny vulcanic stones. They are kept in a temperature and humidity controlled climate until they are ready for transplanting. It takes about 1 week for the seed to sprout.

These basil sprouts are about 3 days old. The whole process from planting a seed to harvesting a seedling for transplanting to a planting pot takes 4 weeks. We at Archi’s Acres sell our home grown organic seedlings to our customers.

This basil plant was planted into the planting pot 1 week ago. One pot can accommodate up to 4 seedlings. The stones are vulcanic rock stones. No soil is used when gardening the hydroponics way. The watering pipe is activated 24 hours a day. The water runs through the stones while delivering the essential nutrients to the roots. The water then runs back to the water reservoir for recycling.
